A domain name can be important to the success of your web site. The heightened identification of your business that results from the www.<my company!>.com web address is significant. Business.Net will assist you in filing the necessary documents with a registrar to register the domain name of your choice.

Some services require that they register your name for you, and then keep control of your name by the way in which they register it. At Business.Net, YOU own your domain name and YOU hold the registration, keeping YOU in control.

Please note that registrars levy a fee for domain name registration that is not included in Business.Net's fee. These fees will be billed directly to you by the registrar.

Domain name service is the process by which Internet computer systems keep track of where domain names are located. For all our web hosting clients, we maintain both a promary and a secondary name server to insure the constant addressability of your domain name and availability of your web site at all times.

All computer systems need a tweak now and then, and Web sites are no different. From time to time, you may want to change a mail address, have us track down why a particular link is not working properly, help with setting up an image map, or some routine task of that nature. Rather than nickle and dime our customers, we simply allow up to two hours of support time per month without charge. Please understand that this feature of our service is intended to cover routine maintenance tasks, and that support time is not accumulated. Beyond the two hour point, our support time rate is a low $50 per hour.

Don't forget, Business.Net is also ready to perform custom programming tasks for your web site such as automatic mail responders, input forms, guestbooks and any other programming task.

Your web site may require custom software or 'scripts' to perform its function. These may be Unix shell scripts, Perl programs or other types of software. We allocate each web site a private program library for these items where your software is segregated from that of other customers and under your control. We do require that you allow us to review any new software before it is placed into production in your site for security purposes.

Your Web hosting account includes up to 25 e-mail boxes on our mail server. This allows you to create mail addresses such as "info@<my company>.com".

Mail received in these mail boxes may be forwarded to another address of your choice, each mailbox may have a private password, or you can mix the two approaches. For instance, mail address to "info" and "sales" may be routed to the same person, while "fred" and "melanie" have private mail boxes.

How to measure the success of your Web site? That depends upon your goals. If your goal is to make sales directly from the site, success is easy to measure -- it is on your sales register. However, it is also important to know about activity on the site, such as how many people are looking at which parts of the site, and when they are looking.

Business.Net provides you with a comprehensive set of activity reports on a daily, week-to-date, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis. These reports are included with your basic monthly fee.
